Neutral Zone hosts a screening of executive producer Russell Simmons and director Jason Zeldes’ award-winning documentary Romeo is Bleeding. The documentary follows Neutral Zone alum Molly Raynor and the students of “Raw Talent”, the program she co-founded with Donte Clark in Richmond, California; a program inspired by what she experienced as a teen in the Volume Poetry Program at Neutral Zone.
Romeo is Bleeding is the story of Donte Clark and how he transcends the violence in his hometown of Richmond, by writing poetry about his experiences. Donte and like-minded youth mount an urban adaptation of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, with the hope of starting a real dialogue about violence in the city. Screening will be held from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. A talkback with Donte will be held from 6:00 to 6:30 p.m.
